Maintenance
Seasonal furnace, boiler, and AC maintenance in Duluth, built to find problems in July instead of on the coldest night of the year.
What a visit covers
We work from a written checklist, 31 points on the heating visit and 30 on the cooling visit, and you keep the filled-out sheet along with a plain-language bill of health for the system. It is not a walk-around and a sticker. Combustion and temperature rise get checked on the heating side, charge and airflow on the cooling side, the filter gets changed either way, and anything wearing out gets pointed out while it is still cheap.
- Written checklist, left with you
- Combustion and temperature rise verified
- Charge and airflow measured
- Filter changed on every visit
Membership
Three plans, each priced for one full system. Essential is a safety inspection of your heating equipment with an inspection of your cooling equipment, an 18-point checklist, documented for your manufacturer warranty. Plus and Premium step up to a full technical inspection of both, worked off a written 61-point checklist. Premium adds a complimentary diagnostic visit if something feels off between checkups, 15% off repairs, and up to $450 toward a new system, building every month you are a member. Homes with more equipment than that get quoted on the call.
- Three plans, billed monthly
- We schedule the visits, you do not have to remember
- Discounted diagnostic fee on Plus and Premium
- Add-on pricing for a second system or mini-splits
When to schedule
Heating maintenance wants to happen before the first real cold snap, which here means September or early October, and cooling in the spring before the first hot week. Members get scheduled automatically. Everyone else, call and we will put you on the calendar.
Membership plans and pricingQuestions
Does a brand new system still need annual maintenance?
Yes. A new furnace collects the same dust and runs the same combustion as an old one, and manufacturer parts coverage generally assumes the system has been maintained. Skipping it to save a service call is how a warranty claim turns into an argument.
What is the difference between a tune-up and a repair?
A tune-up is scheduled work on a system that is running: inspect, measure, clean, change the filter, and flag what is wearing. A repair is diagnostic work on something that has already failed. If we find a bad part during maintenance, we quote it before touching it.
Do I have to be a member to get maintenance?
No. We do single visits at a flat price. The membership exists because full seasonal coverage plus the scheduling handled for you costs less than remembering to call on your own, and Herstad Heating & Cooling would rather see the system than not.
